About

I am a reporter at The New York Times on the Visual Investigations team, which combines traditional reporting with digital open-source techniques. Previously, I was an investigative journalist at ProPublica, reporting on federal agencies, and the Tampa Bay Times, investigating wrongdoing that affected Floridians.

My investigation with Kathleen McGrory into a Florida sheriff’s predictive policing initiative won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting. Our reporting on an alarming death rate at a Johns Hopkins pediatric heart surgery center won the George Polk Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.

Before becoming a journalist, I was a software developer.
